Camera Test — Check Your Webcam Online

Use your browser to test your phone camera or webcam. This page will request camera access, let you pick between available devices, verify the resolution your camera reports, and take a snapshot — all without installing anything.

Run the Camera Test

Test your camera, check resolution, and verify permission handling.

How the camera test works

  1. Permission request — the browser shows a permission prompt. Allow camera access to proceed.
  2. Device selection — if more than one camera is connected you can switch between front and rear lenses.
  3. Resolution check — the page reads the native width and height the camera reports so you know the maximum quality available.
  4. Snapshot — take a single frame to confirm the feed is working correctly.

What the test checks

  • Camera detection — whether a camera device is available
  • Permission status — granted, denied, or prompt state
  • Resolution — reported width and height of the video stream
  • Snapshot capture — ability to grab a still frame from the live feed

Supported browsers

The camera test works in any modern browser that supports the MediaDevices API. You can run it in Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox on both desktop and mobile.

Camera permissions

The browser will ask for camera access when you start the test. If you previously denied permission, you can reset it in your browser settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Safari > Camera. On Android, tap the lock icon in the address bar. On desktop Chrome, click the camera icon in the address bar.

Privacy

The camera feed is processed entirely in your browser. No video, images, or snapshots are uploaded to any server. Once you leave the page, the camera stream stops immediately.

Troubleshooting

  • Camera not detected — close other apps that may be using the camera, then refresh.
  • Black feed — check that no other tab or application has exclusive camera access.
  • Low resolution — some front cameras report lower resolution; try switching to the rear camera.
  • Permission denied — reset camera permissions in your browser settings and reload.
